Shakti - typical questions and answers

Without a doubt, the whole family will benefit from Shakti.  Whether you want to optimise your health or help overcome diseased states, naturally sourced broad spectrum probiotics and nutrients are the doorway to developing vibrant health which can continue long into maturity.

Shakti can be taken straight on the tongue and allowed to melt, or for those who prefer, it may be blended with juice or water.  You may also make it part of a delicious smoothie or sprinkle it on your preferred foods.

As much as you need.  Listen to your body.  Shakti is powerful.  1 flat teaspoon daily is usually sufficient, more may be required to aid recovery from poor health.

Yes, simply take 3 level teaspoons as a meal replacement.  Because Shakti's unique combination satisfies the body's nutritional needs as well as addressing bacterial imbalance, it's an intelligent approach to weight loss.  We advocate a change in lifestyle as well as eating habits.  Chemicals and additives in foods can cause imbalance in the body as well as overwhelming cravings. You will need to drink at least 2 litres (4¼ US pints) of pure clean water daily during this period as the body will be detoxifying as well as shedding excess weight.  Noni fruit, a component of Shakti is also known to diminish cravings.  Bacterial imbalance is one of the hidden culprits responsible for a person's inability to lose weight.

Probiotic is derived from Greek, meaning "for life".  This contrasts with Antibiotics meaning "against life".  This term probiotics is now generally used to describe the living beneficial bacteria that support digestion as well as vaginal and urinary tract health.

Prebiotics are a natural food for probiotic bacteria.  Prebiotics support the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.  A prebiotic allows the probiotic much greater attachment to the intestinal wall and growth rate of the health bacteria in order to minimise the growth of harmful bacteria.  The whole reason for using a prebiotic is to increase beneficial flora.  In other words, the probiotic supplies the live bacteria and the prebiotic is the food needed for the bacteria to survive.

Without the prebiotic, the probiotic will have to compete against other bacteria that will take over if its specific food source is not available.  How effective a probiotic is depends directly on its ability to survive and adhere to the intestinal wall to colonise the colon.  Therefore, prebiotics are necessary to assist the probiotic.  Since prebiotic sugars are not digested, this enables the prebiotic to travel through the digestive tract to help feed the bacteria in the intestines.  These sugars are then fermented by the lactobacillus and others in the colon to produce all those beneficial by-products.  Shakti Synbiotic contains fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) as its prebiotic.

The term Synbiotic is used when a product contains both probiotics and prebiotics.  Because the word alludes to synergism, this term should be reserved for products in which the prebiotic selectively favours the probiotic compound, as in Shakti Synbiotic's use of FOS with Lactobacilli.

Your internal eco-system is made up of friendly and unfriendly bacteria (as well as neutral bacteria which can become harmful if your system is weak).  The beneficial bacteria help your system digest food and absorb its nutrients.  They also support a strong immune system.  The unfriendly bacteria, also called pathogens, cause infection and disease.  Probiotics supply your eco-system with an ample number of friendly bacteria to keep those pathogens under control and support your gastrointestinal system's peak performance.  In other words, they provide the foundation for a healthy life.

These beneficial yeasts support Acidophilus in its function to promote the growth of other beneficial bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract and they are also a rich source of vitamin B1.  Some cultures use these yeasts for the treatment of dysentery, including when diarrhoea is cause by Chron's disease, traveler's disease, and AIDS.

Friendly bacteria occur naturally in your gastrointestinal system.  The more you have of them, the better supported your internal systems will be.  Knowing that beneficial bacteria are depleted daily by pollution, contaminants in food, drugs, antibiotics, aging, smoking, alcohol and stress, it makes sense to defend yourself; otherwise your immune system becomes weakened and you are then vulnerable to infection and disease.   Should you take them for life?  naturally, you can take Shakti every day to help protect against harmful bacteria and also know that your nutritional needs will be met on a daily basis.  Shakti is a food; you may eat it once a day, even three times a day, or whenever you feel hungry.

We recommend taking Shakti alongside the antibiotics.  Unfortunately, antibiotics are unable to distinguish between beneficial and harmful bacteria, and they can wipe out the beneficial bacteria, leaving the bowel vulnerable to the invasion of potentially dangerous bacteria.  This can lead to side effects such as gastro-intestinal upset, involving diarrhoea and bloating.

Taking Shakti is an excellent way to offset this loss.  Take the antibiotics and Shakti every day, but not at the same time.  Wait at least three hours after taking the antibiotic before taking Shakti.  When you have finished the antibiotics, continue taking Shakti to ensure re-population of the beneficial bacteria as well as your usual need for superior nutritional support.  Proper nutrition supports the body in it's fight against disease.

It is unlikely that eating yoghurt will significantly increase the number of beneficial bacteria in your digestive tract.  The bacteria used to produce a fermented food like yoghurt is not concentrated for the purpose of supplementing your body's probiotic level.  Besides the lack of potency found in food-producing bacteria, sugars and preservatives cause the bacteria to go through their life cycle before the food product even reaches your store.  Shakti offers a full spectrum probiotic; these strains are not found in yoghurt.

Shakti can be stored at room temperature, or refrigerate if you want.  The Lactobacilli bacteria used in Shakti Synbiotic have been subjected to a large number of stressors to eliminate weak bacteria, resulting in an extremely robust and superior bacteria unique in the world today.

Yes, absolutely!  Your body is exposed to a different environment and the usual excesses associated with travel and holidays.  Air travel exposes you to all kinds of infections.  This is the time to strengthen the body's immune system by taking Shakti and staying well to enjoy your break.  As Shakti can be stored at room temperature, it is a truly portable defence system.

For your body to digest and absorb the maximum amount of nutrients and minerals from the food you eat, those nutrients need to be "bio-available", i.e. in a form which can be easily assimilated.   Probiotics are particularly effective in breaking down proteins for easier digestion.  That means if you want to get more calcium, magnesium and trace elements out of the food you eat, probiotics are an excellent approach.  Shakti Synbiotic expands this maxim by using superfoods in its probiotic formula. These superfoods come in a pre-digested form which means that all the nutrients are immediately assimilated;  all the hard work has been done by the friendly bacteria, and there is no waste.  What other food can offer this molecular nutrition?

Most allergies to food are the result of the improper balance of bacteria in your intestinal tract.  Because all the ingredients in Shakti are pre-digested by our proprietary lactobacillus culture, this means that your digestive system can relax, all the work has been done.  This is why so many people do not experience their normal allergic reactions.  However, we recommend taking small amounts first to see how your body responds.  Most allergies to food are the result of the improper balance of bacteria in your intestinal tract.  You may find after using Shakti that these allergies disappear.

Shakti is lactose and gluten free.  A person with wheat intolerance generally has trouble breaking down the protein known as gluten.  As Shakti is pre-digested, the gluten is already broken down, and this problem is avoided.   In so many instances once the friendly bacteria have balanced your eco-system, all manner of food intolerance and allergies disappear, because the body grows capable of manufacturing the correct enzymes to metabolise these foods.

Being an all natural product, there is an assurance that detoxification reactions is simply a natural response to the body regaining it's equilibrium.  Drinking plenty of pure clean water (minimum 2 litres, 4¼ US pints) daily, during the healing process helps the body to eliminate toxins easily.

Yes, absolutely!  Our Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), Omega 3 and Omega 6, as well as all 20 omega acids, are derived from Spirulina and Flaxseed, two of the richest sources of EFAs.

If you are under the care of a health practitioner, it is always wise to consult with them before adding anything new to the diet.  Shakti, being a food, will not adversely effect any medications you are taking, any more than a helping of green salad would.

Our probiotic cultures are sourced only from organic and biodynamic grains, fruits and vegetables and Australian grown spirulina; as opposed to so many other probiotic supplements which use probiotics sourced on faecal matter and/or genetically modified material.

Bacteria live and work in colonies known as Colony-Forming-Units (CFUs)  We do not shake the colonies apart to create the illusion of a higher bacteria count and then turn it into a marketing edge.  We have nature on our side.  Shakti is a food which has been fermented with probiotics and the lab tests are done within their natural Colony-Forming-Units as part of the finished product.  Furthermore, it is only the fermentation process which is trademarked, not our probiotic culture.

Under international trade law, no patent or trademark will be issued on a product that occurs naturally.  Therefore, a patent or trademarked bacteria culture would be a warning signal that the organisms have been genetically modified.

How much Shakti do I give my pets?

A horse would take the same serving size as a human being, while your cats and dogs need only a pinch every day.  Animals with severe conditions such as arthritis should take more, and should benefit greatly from Shakti.
